Our projects produced research and developed strategies and tools to meet the needs of the child care workforce and achieve related goals. Click on the titles of our projects for more information.

Classification does not expire provided staff submit proof of continuing professional development.

Staff are required to submit proof of completion of thirty hours of professional development to enhance skills and knowledge specific to early childhood care and education in every three year period following the date their Classification was issued.

To communicate effectively, in other words, to be understood and understand others, is a set of skills to be learned and practiced. This section outlines the common misconceptions many of us hold about the art of communicating, as well as the importance of self-awareness in communication. It also presents some essential skills for sending and receiving messages. 

Institute for Human Services Education, Truro
ECE Program:
Early Childhood Education Diploma – 2 years (Full- or part-time)
Prerequisite: High School Diploma

Specialized Course:
Early Childhood Inclusion and Intervention Diploma (Part-time)
Prerequisite: ECE Diploma

Providers must be at least 18 years old, must complete the Canadian Child Care Federation Family Home Day Care Training (Level One), hold current first aid and infant CPR certificates, provide criminal reference and child abuse registry checks, and participate in ongoing professional development training.
